New Year’s Resolutions: Healthy Work Snacks For Your Team

TBD

2020 has arrived and so commences the season of New Year’s Resolutions. Many people see the beginning of the year as a chance to refresh and focus on new goals or habits they want to implement moving forward. Here at Cater2.me, this means encouraging teams to make healthy changes in the office to energize, increase productivity and ultimately be more successful! That’s why we’re kicking off this year with a list of healthy work snacks for your team. Read more below.

Nuts and Dried Fruit

This is one of the easiest things to keep stocked in the office for your team. Nuts are full of healthy fats and protein that keep you full longer. Fruit has carbs and natural sugars to increase energy levels. Both are also full of fiber your body needs to stay full and regulated. Having a variety of options will make it easy for people to grab what they want when they start to hit that midday slump. Here are some of our favorite combinations

  • Peanuts, banana chips and chocolate chips
  • Oranges and dark chocolate
  • Cashews, brazil nuts and dried mangos
  • Macadamia nuts, dried pineapple and coconut flakes
  • Dried apples and walnuts

Roasted Chickpeas

These yummy little snacks will satisfy your salty cravings and are a much healthier alternative to chips. Chickpeas support heart health and lower cholesterol levels in your blood. They also contain most of the amino acids your body needs and are high in protein to keep you full and satisfied until your next meal.

Plantain Chips and Guacamole

This healthy twist on a crowd favorite will keep your team happy and energized! Guacamole is made with avocados, which are a powerhouse superfood. Although most of the calories in avocados come from fats, that shouldn’t scare you away from these delicious fruits. They are a great source of many vitamins and nutrients and are high in Omega-3s. Plantain chips are high in antioxidants and fiber, making them a better alternative to traditional tortilla chips.

Pro tip: To make this extra healthy, choose a guacamole made with nonfat greek yogurt. This will reduce the fat intake and add healthy probiotics your body needs!

Granola

Granola is a delicious, healthy and versatile snack to keep on-hand in the office. You can throw it on top of greek yogurt for a quick and healthy parfait, or eat it on it’s own. Depending on the type, it can be full of healthy fats, complex carbs and fiber. You can even get granola with added probiotics in it to support gut health. Here are some of our favorites to keep near your desk:

Protein bars

Protein bars are the perfect healthy snack if you have a team that is on the go all the time or working longer hours. It’s important to stay fueled in any workplace, but especially if you are busy or on your feet often. Protein bars are a great option to help your team stay energized, healthy and full for longer periods of time. Check out these bars to help fuel your employees:

Popcorn

Popcorn is a great way to satisfy your salty cravings and is also one of the best healthy work snacks! It is low in calories, so you can snack away without the guilt — just as long as you don’t drown it in butter. Try a low-calorie popcorn brand that comes already seasoned, or keep bags of microwave popcorn in the office (chances are the smell of popcorn popping will get everyone on board). Just make sure you buy lightly salted, no butter popcorn if you want to keep it truly healthy.

Veggies and Hummus

We all know it’s important to eat your vegetables! One way to add more veggies into your diet is to dip them in hummus and snack on them during the day. Hummus is great for you, as it’s made with mostly chickpeas. It’s full of healthy fats, protein and amino acids. Vegetables are vitamin and potassium rich, while being low in calories, making this snack super healthy and easy!

We hope these snacks inspire you to bring in some healthy options for your office! Your team will thank you for helping them stick to their New Year’s Resolutions. You might even start a lasting trend of choosing healthy work snacks over junk food.
