Swimsuit-Friendly Sweets

Azalea Perez OIivares

July 17, 2015

TBD

Summer is heating up, but there are still a few months left of swimsuit season. If you want to cool down without feeling weighed down, check out these delicious, refreshing, and figure-friendly summer treats!

Chloe's Soft Serve Fruit

Chloe’s Soft Serve Fruit Co. (New York City, NY)

Fresh fruit, water, and a sprinkle of organic sugar cane: that’s all that goes into Chloe’s Soft Serve Fruit. They’re perfectly refreshing on a hot, muggy Manhattan day, and they’ll keep you looking amazing for those weekends in the Hamptons. (A girl can dream, can’t she?) Or, you can splurge with a (still healthy) sundae. The Fit & Fruity, made of tangerine soft serve fruit with granola, strawberries, and raspberries, gets my vote. Or try the Crunchy Salty, which is banana soft serve fruit topped with banana, pretzels, warm peanut butter, and melted dark chocolate.

BARE Bowls

BARE Bowls (San Francisco, CA)

Acai (pronounced ahh–sigh–ee), is a dark purple berry that’s rich in antioxidants and fiber, and naturally sugar-free. BARE combines this super berry with other fresh fruit, all in a bowl topped with crunchy, healthy goodness like granola, crushed almonds, and shredded coconut. Acai bowls deserve their recent health-foodie craze. Not only are they packed with vital nutrients, but they also keep you full and satisfied for a long time. So, you won’t feel the need to reach for the donut that your (evil) colleague brought in. Take THAT, temptation.

Mom and Pops

Mom & Pops (Austin, TX)

Since opening in 2008, this all-natural frozen treat shop has been a local favorite for cooling off during Austin’s blazing summer. In the spirit of the city’s beloved slogan, “keep Austin weird,” Mom & Pops popsicles come in strange and delicious flavors like Pineapple Basil and Mango Chili. Don’t miss the Cafe Con Leche, which has been named one of the city’s Top 10 Sweet Bites by the The Austin Chronicle. It’s like iced coffee on a stick! They’ve even shared their delicious Hibiscus Mint popsicle recipe with Bon Appetit, so you can cool off with a taste of Mom & Pops wherever you are.

Pint

Pint (Chicago, IL)

At Pint, health and wellness is more important than fads and trends. That’s why their pressed and blended concoctions make them stand out among Chicago’s other juice shops. Its menu changes constantly, based on the the best local ingredients available that week, so you’re guaranteed something fresh and delicious. How refreshing does a grapefruit, orange, ginger, and apple juice sound?

Mother Juice

Mother Juice (Boston, MA)

Born out of a love for fresh and local produce, Mother Juice quickly gained a loyal and ever-growing base of followers. Zagat recently featured it as one of the top seven spots for eating healthy in Boston! Its organic cold-pressed juices and smoothies are as nutritious as they are delicious. Looking for something light, refreshing, and packed with vitamins? Try the “C+++,” a blend of carrot, grapefruit, ginger, pineapple, and orange.

Tropical Smoothie

Tropical Smoothie Cafe (Seattle, WA)

“Eat better. Feel better.” That’s an appropriate motto for Tropical Smoothie Cafe, which serves up refreshing smoothies of fruit, vegetables, and non-fat yogurts. Their creations are light yet substantial, so you’ll feel full without feeling like a blob. Try the Detox Island Green, a naturally-sweetened blend of spinach, kale, mango, pineapple, banana, and fresh ginger. Goodbye bloating, hello beach bod!

Happy summer!
